Ghostly Christmas Ambiance
Sara Dobie Bauer’s latest release, a darkish Christmas fairytale called He Sees You When You’re Sleeping, is a fascinating paranormal journey through time.
I’m not a fan of very dark fiction, but this one had enough of a supernatural lilt to give it justification and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
Dobie Bauer is the Queen of creating a sensual and gothic atmosphere in her paranormal offerings and this one did not disappoint. I found myself wrapped up in Nick and Jack’s story and pleased by the originality of its delightful essence.
Don’t miss this one for Christmas 2020!

"This was one hot, steamy read. Though the plot was solid and the characters were well fleshed out, I would say this is more of a hot cowboy BDSM erotica. I wasn't expecting it to be so intense, and I absolutely loved it. This book was so well written. A definite recommend!" ~ Goodreads, October 27th, 2020
"I will not claim it is the best book I have ever read, but it was the best book about ponies that I have ever read...I will be checking out the second book, because kinky cowboys are apparently my thing and Lister delivers on kink in a wonderful way." ~ Goodreads, October 26th, 2020

The Bunkhouse
This series began with me wanting to write a cowboy story. But it couldn't be any old cowboy story. It needed to be a one-of-a-kind cowboy story. And, since I am me, it needed to be kinky.
So I came up with the idea for The Braided Crop Ranch, a place for kinky men to play pony in the most ranch-like environment I could think up.
The Bunkhouse, where the stable hands and ponyboys sleep, became a central location in the series. I wanted it to be reminiscent of an actual ranch bunkhouse, but with modern amenities like showers, bathrooms and a kitchenette. A comfortable space but not that fancy. With group showers and a loft area that offered just enough privacy on occasion for brave souls to get up to some sexytimes.
I found these images online that offer some of the bunkhouse ambience I'm going for:
EXCERPT:
I followed Luke into the bunkhouse. As soon as the door shut behind us, Luke turned and curled into me, arms sliding around my waist, face nuzzling into my neck. This sudden vulnerability surprised me, but I gathered him to me out of instinct.
“Hey, hey,” I said, wondering what had brought this on. Was this sub drop?
“It’s not sub drop,” Luke murmured, pressing little wet kisses against my neck.
I grinned even though he couldn’t see my face. “What is it, then?”
“Not sure,” he mumbled. “But I need to be with you. I almost lost you.”
My heart beat fast and I felt something break within me. Something that had been my last small holdout against fully committing to this place. To Luke. To Noah.
“Okay. Let’s get undressed. You can stay in my bunk with me tonight.”
Luke pulled away slightly and gazed at me. “What you saw today, with me and Kamal.”
I blushed as I nodded.
“His dominance is why I come here. He knows how to deal with me. He puts me in my place.” Luke said, forehead creased with the seriousness of this statement. “I need that. From somebody.”

Pony Play
Welcome to my first blog - Know Your Safeword! Created way back in 2011, it was a way to journey my research and exploration into kink and fetish while writing The James Lucas Trilogy.
I had forgotten this blog existed because I switched to Wordpress several years ago and did my blogging on my website. But there is alot of great curated stuff here from the early days of my being published under the name Elizabeth Lister.
Which brings me to the topic of my post today. It's really hard to find good photos of male pony play that matches the images I'm trying to bring you in The Braided Crop Ranch Series. I can find lots of naked men in pup hoods (YAY) but alot of the men in the pony play photos wear the full body latex suits with formed horse heads and, while I have no problem with people dressing up like that, it's not really the look I'm going for with the ponyboys at the BCR.
I did, however, manage to find some images, such as this one below, that were almost perfect, and I wanted to share them with you here, since they wouldn't accord with Facebook's conservative nudity guidelines.
This first photo epitomizes the look of a BCR ponyboy. Even thought the harness and bridle are a little different, it's exactly the kind of look I'm going for in the books - minimal gear that accentuates the sexy qualities of a man and puts them into a submissive pony headspace:

Reviving the Old Blog! Because, Why Not?
Wow, it's been along time since I posted anything here.
When I first set up my Wordpress website several years ago, I gave up maintaining this blog because the Wordpress blogging feature connected right in with the static website platform.
But now my main website is with WIX. While WIX is a great platform for a static website, the blogging section is not as nice as I'd like. So I might as well revive this good looking blog I started way back in 2011 when I was first published, detailing my misadventures in the Ottawa Kink Community as I researched and wrote The James Lucas Trilogy.
Have a look at the archives. There are some fascinating posts here, featuring a diverse range of experiences.
And look forward to a weekly new post, which is a feature I'm going to try to keep up with.
Cheers,
AE Lister/Elizabeth Lister
